SaaS (software as a service)

What is SaaS?

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the internet. Customers typically pay a subscription fee, which often leads to lower upfront costs compared to traditional software purchase.

In more detail, SaaS has become a common delivery model for many business applications. It eliminates the need for organizations to install and run applications on their own computers or in their own data centers, which can save costs on hardware, software, and staff needed to manage it all. The flexibility, scalability, and accessibility of SaaS models make them very appealing for startups, both as a business model and as a software solution.
