Independent contractor

What is an independent contractor?

An independent contractor is a person or business entity that provides goods or services to another entity under a contract or verbal agreement, but is not an employee. Independent contractors are self-employed and, as such, are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.

The use of independent contractors can provide flexibility and cost savings for businesses. However, it's important for businesses to correctly classify workers as employees or independent contractors, as misclassification can result in legal issues and penalties.
