Venture Capital Partner

What Is a Partner at a Venture Capital Fund?

Partners at venture capital firms are the most senior members of the organization who may be able to propose and approve investments.

VC firms may have different types of partners with varying responsibilities and authority. The managing or general partners are usually the owners of the fund who put their personal money into the fund. Some VC firms, particularly in Europe, may refer to these people as “managing directors” rather than managing partners or general partners.

There may also be junior partners, venture partners, and operating partners. While these partners might not be able to approve a deal, they may be able to sponsor a deal and propose a vote.
